Frequent Visitors is a weekly newsletter created to share the things we (over at Frequent Practice) have enjoyed visiting each week. Sometimes related to design, reads, and creativity. Sometimes related to anything else.
This week we kept coming back to the idea of ‘small things, nicely done’ in our work, how we cared for our space, and how we showed up for each other. It created a shift in our headspace for even the most mundane tasks.
This Week’s Visits
This week has a hint of an unintentional theme—kickstarters. One of the kickstarters we are thrilled to have backed is U-Joints, an encyclopaedic publication that looks at human history through joints.
Because a joint is often invisible, hidden elegantly within an object, it can be overlooked. U-JOINTS sheds light on these hidden details in an in-depth survey of joints.
A second campaign we backed and can’t wait to see more of is INQUE Magazine. A large format literary magazine made up of all the things we love; extraordinary writers and artists, inspiring editorial, and all wrapped up in a stunning print design. Thank you Dan Crowe (Editor in Chief) + Matt Willey (Art Director) for all you do!!
We can’t talk about kickstarters without sharing the “Crowdsourceress” herself, Alex Daly. Her comms and marketing consultancy, Daly, continues to collaborate with brilliant brands of all sizes that are making impacts in their industries. (Bags made from recycled truck tarps and compostable textiles, social impact bakery, and a relaunch of the iconic feminist magazine to name a few.)
Beautiful fine art prints from architectural photographer, and good friend, Mengzhu Jiang. Follow her on instagram here.
AIAIAI, a danish audio design company has recently restocked their Tracks Headphones. James could not help but order a pair. AIAIAI believes in designing products to last, and implementing responsible materials for each component of the headphones.
BRASILIA is a mono-thematic magazine made by design students at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts, Hanover. Our good friend Vivian Dehning works with BRASILIA as an Art Director and Editorial Designer, and the most recent issue (#6) can be ordered here!
Fran + Martin in “Pretend It’s a City”. Superb masterpiece, highly recommend spending some time with Ms. Lebowitz for countless memorable lines such as
“I knew what talent was because I saw the lack of it in myself.”
Fran Lebowitz on her childhood cello playing days.
That is all for this week! Thank you for reading and we hope you enjoyed your visit :) We love having visitors as much as we love being them, so please feel free to subscribe below and reply with your thoughts + some of your favourite finds.
There are minimal differences these days between our weekend plans and weekday plans (lots of home time). Whatever your weekend consists of, we hope it’s a grand one.
