This Week’s Visits
WHAT A STAIRCASE!!
Acne Studio’s Miami Design District store is now open and I am positively mesmerized by this staircase! The dream team has done it again: design by Halleroed, lit up by Benoit Lalloz, and furniture by Max Lamb.
“Canal Painting”
The Paris Review’s 70th Anniversary spring issue is now available featuring the gorgeous “Canal Painting" by Peter Doig on the cover. A standout excerpt for moi:
“To get going, I need a strong cup of tea and a game of solitaire—it’s like running a comb through my brain.” —Olga Tokarczuk on the Art of Fiction
High Valley Books
Is a nice library of interesting and rare books, including Daring Do’s, really exquisite covers, Earthly Bodies, A Decade of Skateboarding in NYC, and The Draper Touch.
Colour Theory
Alright Studio re-imagined Ian Loring Shiver’s photography portfolio with a robust index, allowing you to browse by client, tag, image size, and my personal favourite—colour.
An In-depth Profile Bonanza
Wow, happy Spring from Gentlewoman who is spoiling us with their latest spring/summer issue!!!
We’re at home with the photographer and indefatigable activist Nan Goldin, cracking code with the computer scientist Anne-Marie Imafidon, and talking dolls and deadlifting with our cover star, Greta Gerwig.
I’m sorry, dolls and deadlifting?!! Nan?! The STEM prodigy! Hit after hit from the Gentlewoman team as per usual.
Thank you for reading and we hope you enjoyed your visit! As always, we’d love to learn about some of your favourite finds by reading + responding to all of your replies to this email!!
Until next time,
SV
PS!!! Thank you for sharing some of your dream spots for an overnight trip inspired by last week’s issue. Pals of FV shared ideas of visits to Rocky Mountain towns, train rides through the country side, and trips to Japanese bathhouses and forest cabins.
