Frequent Visitors is a weekly newsletter created to share a thoughtful selection of our favourite visits—both online and off—curated by friends, not algorithms.
For today’s issue we have a beloved friend of FV sharing their finds!

New habits
Recently I started taking off my slippers before I enter my work space. It makes me feel more grounded and adds a little habit to my process. I own a pair of very cozy felt shoes that my mom made. Loving them, especially on cold days. They fold nicely, too, and are light weight — great for everyone who is moving around or travelling a lot.
The Wonder
This movie felt almost too chilling for me (super sensible girl with thrillers), wrapped up under my little blanket in my sublet late at night. But with a magnificent Florence Pugh who could not watch. A truly compassionate piece with many layers to unpack.
A cute newsletter, to find at wordsmith.org, run by a very small team. They share a word a day, giving some background info and they also have a thought for food each day. A recent word was rubricate, which means to color or mark with red.
And two recent quotes:
This is what power really is: the privilege of ignoring anything you might find distasteful. Oksana Zabuzhko, writer (b. 19 Sep 1960)
We offer great rewards to a man who can tame a tiger, admire those who can train horses, monkeys, and elephants, and praise to the skies the author of some modest work. Yet we neglect women who have spent years and years nourishing and educating children. Francois Poulain, author, philosopher, and priest (Jul 1647-1723)
Black and white films of Martha Graham techniques
They are simple and inspiring. Here are two.
A parallel read
Usually I prefer to read one book at a time, but Kahneman’s Thinking, Fast and Slow (which I finally! started) and Rick Rubins The Creative Act (which I couldn’t wait to start) are turning out to be a really interesting parallel read.
Some Music
I am currently enjoying:
Men I Trust’s Forever Live Sessions, with the softest voice of Emma (Emmanuelle Proulx). Loving especially the solo of I Hope To Be Around, so soothing!
Hania Rani. She’s all amazing. One of my personal favourites is the remastered album of Biała flaga. Her Spotify playlist Life is a film, which she has on her personal account, Hania Raniszewska, is a cool and long! compilation too.
Tommy Guerrero with Sunshine Radio or Soul Food Taqueria and Holy Hive with Float Back to You (and the Instrumental version of the same) are easy backdrops while working. Paul Spring has this mesmerising, high voice which is totally inspiring to me.
Making your own chili oil
These are two great recipes, that leave room for to be tailored to your own taste and for experimentation.
Thank you for reading and we hope you enjoyed your visit! Viv, thank you for sharing this beautiful list with us 💌
You’ve inspired me to start making my own chili oil to enjoy while I fall into a trance watching Martha Graham videos.
Until our next visit,
Sasha
We love having visitors as much as we love being them, so it would mean the world if you forwarded this newsletter to someone you think might enjoy it!!
